I have installed a script called Ace Rates. It uses Mattie's Event Scripts to find someone rate hacker or just plain ignorant of what those rates can do and changes them. I'm piloting this as I'm sure that this will get complaints. I'm starting to learn more and more about what rates can do. This script may cause some headturns and some problems. I can honestly say I'm doing this to help and not to try to point out "cheaters". Many of the forums on Steam and Mattie's site mention that some people play with the same rates as rate hackers and have no clue. If you have any corners with this post about it.

Sounds good to me. BTW, I think we should've had this in the first place. I've seen the Ace Rates on other servers before and it works pretty well.

the question is... if someone has the cl_restrict_server_commands set to 1, will this mod change their rates?

Ok yeah this is different form what I've seen. This one kicks people. The other one changes their rates to the minimum requirement. I say we use that one.
BTW we had too many idiots complaining about how they had to lower their settings and that theirs were high enough and how the thingy sucks because they had to change their settings. Bunch of whiners.

ok this rate script is the MOST annoying thing. I'm ready to remove it unless it can be made so that it does NOT kick people. I watched it kick about 7 people from port this morning.

tripple post, FTL!
I changed it. it should change and report the changes in the console log, so that people know what has been changed.
IT SHOULD NOT BE KICKING ANYONE

Ok, blame me, I'm looking for the correct version currently. I swear the version I have changes rates instead of kicking people. I'll have to research this.

Well I believe Amy fixed this... but someone please post if it's not.
BTW, I see that I must have missed a 0 for the auto kick variable. Sorry to all that were kicked.
I also believe we should honestly think of turning off the rate change announcement. It's going to be a lot of spam for everyone.

K, I updated the Max Rates since I realized they were set kinda low. Many people run at 30000 and use 101 as cmd and update rates.

This was down for a while, and if you havent noticed its back up, Steam updates broke it, and Jonus was on it to fix it. Thanks Jon!

Do we really need it? Rate hacking is pretty rare, and easy to identify. For the few idiots who we do get rate hacking, is it worth bogging the server down with another superfluous plugin?
And yes, seeing chat spam about who is getting their rate changed every few minutes is annoying.
Cheers, -Jayne
