I didn't mean to judge each case individually, I mean that each case is slightly different, thus, we should have set 'standards' that if you fall under, you are eligable for DP. This would mean that depending on the ruling in the court people would be sentenced. Maybe they have 5 charges against them and are only convicted of 3. Who knows. But no, you can't judge the person individually, just the crimes they committed and the severity of such crimes. And the self defense thing was a bad attempt at an example.

You're assuming there is a God... and you know what they say when you assume. You make an '@$$' of 'u' and 'me'

Let us see - if you are convicted of murder and executed you cannot kill again. That sounds safe, I mean I do not have to worry about you getting out of prison and coming back after me. We had the bad luck of spotting one of the FBI ten most wanted while in Washington DC. This guy was in for life and had escaped from a maximum security prison with aide. So kill all of the murderers. No excuses! Until you have had the problem of an escaped killer possibly looking for you, you have no idea what that feels like. That is part of the derivation of my player name. I and my family have been real live bait.
If you still are against the death penalty there may be a killer looking for you some day. Think it isn't possible? IT IS!
Fun times - spot your protective tail - no don't look...

How much guilty and maybe even deserving Life can we take to balance out the Racially and Socially motivited killing of Innocent or undserving persons? Is a 10% Wrongfull Execution Number fair? Can we sacrafice 10% of the innocent for the "common good"? What about 5%. You might think thats a small number, its worth it. But those are people, not just numbers. They have mothers, fathers, they are mothers, fathers. Innocent and yet killed, put beyond any hope of reform or later eveidence proving their innocence. Killed because of the color of their skin, or the mistakes of their detectives, or the shortcomings of witnesses, or lack of money, or State Legislature laws, or any number of things.
Personally Gramps, I belive that all Murders should be killed. If you commit murder, I think you can burn in hell and If we can speed your trip, im all for it. However, thats not the question, the question is the Death Penalty. Not all people killed by the Death Penalty are murderers, you cant get it right all the time, and you know that every person you kill wont be a murderer. You can't Kill Every person convicted and guilty of bieng a "Murderer" and remain Humane. You will kill innocents, slaughtered in the Meatgrinder of the Legal System. Im not saying that Murders should be kept alive, im saying We as imperfect human biengs have no right to choose Who dies and Who lives. We often do, but at any time that is possible, we should choose the Humane path and remember our imperfection in Judgement and Racial Blindess.
Eek, spent too long typing this, Must memorisze capital of Saskatchewan! Must!

The system has flaws. Live with it. Unless you are planning on committing a crime do not worry about it. I would never be any good on a jury. Far too many guilty escape on techinicalities for me to cry over an innocent convicted of a crime - even murder one with the death penalty. I think that the death penalty is far too easy on the murderer. I would re-establish the stocks, stoning, flogging, and all of the old punishments that were allowed when this country was formed. "Hanging is too good for them." Give them a fair trial and hang them.
I know, "Crazy old coot." You are probably right, but it keeps me from going insane and carrying out my ideas. Let me at death row, "time for you to die sucker."

Ah yes, the whole "Paying to keep people alive" thing. What a silly notion, eh? I think we should just ship our criminals to canada. The crazy canucks can calm em all down.
