Basically what started happening this afternoon is whenever I try and do any formatting like bolding, alignment, even print preview forces excel to lockup and stop responding.
I've cleared my temp files all over but I can't figure out what the hell is going wrong. I've got a ticket in to the IT guys around here but I though maybe one of you super slueths might have some ideas on what I could do to fix the problem in the meantime.
Thanks

I have no idea with excel. If I were at school, then maybe I could ask one of my teachers, but I'm stumped

When was the last time you restarted your computer? You know how Windows is with memory...
Now, if that doesn't fix it, then try having only one spreadsheet open at a time (I usually have 3 or 4 open...). Also, if it is a work computer, then they probably have Microsoft Antispyware whatever on it. Make sure it isn't running a spyware check. I had to go in on my computer under the admin name and remove it (my username only has minimum privelages... hehe). That spyware scan will annihilate your speed. Also, spreadsheet size might be an issue... I've gotten to about 2000 lines without having any real problems, but one day I was screwing around and filled all 65535 rows with the alphabet. Can you say computer crash? I know I can. It was funny as hell too.
So try some of that, I'll look up some more Excel info when I get to work.

take the number 2. Cube it. take that result, cube it, take that result, cube it, take that result.... continue on until your computer locks up and crashes. Insert trouble ticket. "I dunno, i was doing some simple calcuations on my calculator for this report and BAM! It locked up on me... won't stop doing it either."

Get open office, use that. Then at least you have a support group.
Open office calc is the spreadsheet. Awsome.
JUst do a spyware scan after the installation. Mine seemed to come with bookmark express.

I fixed the problem. Some file the secretary sent out changed some settings and did something to screw things up. I just deleted all the instances of the file and things went back to normal.
Thancs fer yer sujeschuns
