hey guys, my friend needs a lil teck support....umm, he talks a lot, but ill post his AIM talk here so you guys can try and figure that out...help him i guess...<.<
[15:23] AdmiralKM: i told you my power supply was whistling [15:23] AdmiralKM: it still is [15:24] AdmiralKM: but i just turned on my power, it started whistling [15:24] AdmiralKM: so I'm figuring I'll have to buy a new PSU soon [15:24] AdmiralKM: but [15:24] AdmiralKM: i push the power button [15:24] AdmiralKM: and it doesn't start up [15:24] AdmiralKM: and i tried turning of power and back on a few time [15:24] AdmiralKM: times* [15:24] AdmiralKM: still wouldn't work [15:24] AdmiralKM: I'm angry [15:24] AdmiralKM: and I get down there [15:24] AdmiralKM: the power light on the mobo is on [15:25] AdmiralKM: I'm all like oh crap [15:25] AdmiralKM: i breathe out heavily [15:25] AdmiralKM: it blows on the fan [15:25] AdmiralKM: and I hear the whistling change pitch [15:25] AdmiralKM: so I blow harder [15:25] AdmiralKM: and the whole computer starts up! [15:25] AdmiralKM: WTF?!?!?!?
ok, so yeah, i hope that helps....and if it doesnt, IM him and all he knows me y sasquatch or sean, so if you mention that he will know what your talkin about, or you can answer it here and ill relay it to him...

it sounds like the power supply is going out. the reason it started up is because it's not putting out enough juice, and when he blew on the fan, it allowed the system to not need quite so much power and it started. a whining power supply is never good. i'd suggest buying a new power supply, with possibly more wattage. antec is a good brand.

also could just be strain. he should, i dunno... use a heat sync. if he blew on it and it cooled off, it could have relieved dome of the strain on it. just a theory.

What Chim said is what I beleive too. More wattage in a new psu would fix that problem.
