somethings wrong with either my computer (most likely) or CS. I connect to the server and everything goes great for like 10 minutes until everything starts to jump around and the graphics begin to corrupt. At first I thought it was just lag, But since it keeps happening I think my video card MAY be overheating. Any suggestions my other games (WoW) seem to work fine =(

First try the video driver. Download and replace the copy with a fresh uncorrupted version. If that does not work the standard solutions: 1 anti spy ware scan 2 flush all cookies INTERNET temp files INTERNET history 3 anti virus update, scan 4 download windows defender beta, run it 5 new chassis fan with more airflow 6 new main hard drive as the boot drive may be failing.
I have needed to do all of the above because of problems. Beware the hardware failure - boot drive is the one that will cause you the most headaches.
Everyone with a hard drive over two years old should consider replacing it NOW! The test for a failed hard drive is simple - just disconnect the ide or sata cable and power cable. Figuring out to do that takes genius or much experience.
Murphy bytes are no fun and the corollaries are even worse.
Grumps to ya and break a leg.
Oh and Moe - all hard drives fail eventualy.

I think that happened to me once, my vid-card wasn't picking up on the extra things that was added to the map(like boxes, cans, barrels, windows, doors,) think of it like a wall hack but on the little things. So I had to suffer with that for about a day(had fun shooting people threw boxes) but I found that when I completely un-installed cs:s and did all the routines like b8 mentioned(expect for the hard drive B.S.) it worked fine after that(oh, also check to see if your vid-card has a new driver update).

Hey that kinda sounds like the problem I was having with FFXI, except the time frame was more like 30 seconds...and it would just freeze...I guess my video card was just too sexy for the game

ok , so here's what's happened so far. Completly replaced motherboard. Added more RAM and 1 Gigahertz of processer speed, problem solved, nah uh!. first I find that the screen won't turn on, ok so I piss around with it. got the screen to work, now as soon as windows loads the screen corrupts and the system restarts/crashes whatever!. So i replace the videocard with and older one I had laying around with the Same Megabitage so no really big deal, went from ATI 9800 to 8500. NOW I find the moniter just sits there turning on and off on and off, my moniter is like less then a year old?, like WTF, even when i disconnect the moniter from the board it still flicks on and off on and off, I left it for like 15 minutes so I could go freak out, outside, I come back plug it in, now it works, what's going on guys, I'm lost. Also a problem I'm having is that the other board I had (ATI radiaon 9800) won't screw into the case properly, like the slot is too far away or something, Am I mental, or like is my mainboard a PoS?. It's Soyo Dragaon t550 btw if that info helps, I'm gonna go reinstall drivers and flush all my cookies and that right now, since I JUST got my comp up to read this post. I'm soooooooo mad right now, I could scream.

sounds to me like you have some nasty virus activity and a partially corrupted hard drive...
this happened to a friend of mine (at least some of the symptoms) and such...and his was what i said...
if you have a spare formated hard drive laying around, i would suggest giving that a try...reloading everything there..and hope for the best...if not....i dunno, i know i personally would HATE to lose my HD...but if your compy is a brick, theres almost nothing else you can do...
*edit*
compltely scrap what i was talking about...im way too tired and didnt read that right...i need sleep...ill think a lil harder tomorrow...<.<

I had that type of problem just before my hard drive went south and took itself on a permanent time out. Get data and other information off of it or back it up now. Even if it turns on again do it anyway as it may go toes up at any time.
Oh any one who tells you that hard drive stuff is BS better pray that the hard drive in the machine that they are using is immortal. CAUSE IT AIN'T!

You don't like hard drives, do you B8? I do suggest doing HD backups though, even if it isn't your HD, at least you have thing saved in case it's virus ridden or something... You may be able to figure out which files can be saved and which are infected... It's always good to get a backup BEFORE the files are infected... or the problem will follow you around for a while... Have you tried repairing windows or doing a LKG load or a SR load? maybe you've got some corrupt windows files that need replacing... might want to try replacing your powerstrip (i'm assuming you use one) maybe you're having power fluctuations, which can cause hardware issues... Any lightning storms or power outages, or surges, sags, or spikes happen within a reasonable amount of time before the problems started?

I did the hd backup thing. Then the backup went south and took out the computer. How? Sheer bad timing. The main disk went and then the backup went. Main drive vibrated itself to death because of a cheap case that had the hard drive screwed in on one side only. The backup went well because it went. An external USB 2.0 180 GB Iomega that went away because of a power cord issue. No ground pin on the wrong AC cord caused an ESD failure in winter dry air conditions. So now I am very... expletives deleted for about 100 words.
