I re-installed Steam, HL2, HL2DM, and CSS last night because I want to play them again.
However, when I attempt to launch CSS from Steam, it does not load.
It says "Preparing to load CSS" (not word for word but you know what I mean), and then that goes away and nothing happens.
I was only able to spend like 5 minutes attempting to load it since I had to go to school, so I haven't had time to look for solutions online for this problem. I decided to ask around here first (since im at school now lol)

The most common problem I have had with steam refusing to load is DRIVERS. If you do not have an audio and a video driver that steam likes it just QUITS with no error message. Try reloading the most recent versions of the drivers and then see what happens.

great suggestion! i almost forgot about that, i'm going to update my drivers right now. i'll post if that solves the problem. thanks!

This isn't Steam's fault... it's DirectX. As usual, I wish people wouldn't just jump to the conclusion that Steam's release marked the first stages of The Rapture.

I too hate steam, in much the same reason I hate Microsoft and democracy. In their own context, they're the worst systems out there.....except for all others.
