In December, following an incident in which an 18-year-old German fan of the online shooter game Counter-Strike opened fire in his former high school, politicians in the states of Bavaria and Lower Saxony proposed legislation to criminalize violent acts in video games if directed against “humans or human-looking characters.”

yeah blame the game, not his parents who raised him, the person that got him the gun legally or illegally-- or him. since he plays video games its their fault. People look for a scape goat.

The following is a joke:
I'll kill you for blaming the game. You are so dead that it is not funny.
Is that the response that you wanted? I have been playing violent video games since they began and they have not affected me in the least. That old Pong game just frustrated the heck out of me. Now when the Atari came out with Combat that was the start of some of the fun times. Well I wrote a couple of programs before that but they do not count. Battleships is not so violent. Poker and such just took money from people.
The video game is much better than the games that were played when I was young. Take a BB gun out into the woods and play war with live ammo. Then the guys graduated into 22 long riffles ammunition. Then one guy was killed in another group of kids. So if you do your paper add those little bits of information into them. If there were no video games those kids would be out in the woods using LIVE AMMO to shoot over each others heads until they get tired of that and start seeing how close they can come to each others heads. That is where the real game begins with people getting shot. So which is better? You tell me live ammo being tossed around or video games?
Bah lets go into the server and settle this once and for all.

The people that blame video games are the people who don't have the skills required to play them. They are blaming the game since they are excluded from the group.

FYI, Kids that go into places and kill a lot of people don't do so because they are re-inacting a video game they played. They are doing it because they are emotionally unstable and want revenge against those that hurt them the most or are even so unstable that they simply lash out against the most people they can. Children don't lash out because of a video game, and if they do, it's because the PARENTS didn't raise them right. It's called, take responsibility for your own actions and pay attention to your kids and make sure they are happy and not homicidally unstable!

The two are not linked... these murderers were screwed up before they ever touched a keyboard or controller.
