IF you get caught cheating on our server you get banned by IP.
Therefore if there is more than one Steam account on your internet connection everyone is banned!

I almost always ban by STEAMID. Depending on ISP it's easy to get your IP switched (sometimes it will change arbitrarily, sometimes it will change if you connect with a different router or different MAC address, etc). It's not so easy to get a new STEAMID (buy another game).
Actually, I don't think I've ever banned anyone on [AC] servers... maybe kicked, but not banned.

Then it sounds like we should ban by IP and by steam. No problem doing that in the case of a cheater.

Then it sounds like we should ban by IP and by steam. No problem doing that in the case of a cheater. Both are marginally useless against a seasoned hacker. A habitual cheater will be getting new steamID's regularily. IP's are ridiculously easy to change (sometimes as easy as powering off your modem for a second or two). In the long run, like SiR said, if you have to do one, SteamID is preferable since its harder to replace. My advise is not to invest too much time worrying about it. Have fun with the game and do what you can, but don't lose sleep over it. Cheers, -Jayne
