Wasn't there talk some time ago about switching hosts? I've been considering donating another month's worth, but I'm reluctant to do so knowing there is a chance we might change soon. I know this topic has been in limbo for a while, but it seems there are more and more complaints erupting about the performance on our current host. Maybe it is time to consider jumping ship.

I would be willing to facilitate the move to a new host, if the present AC authorities don't have the time to deal with such things. Unfortunately, our balance won't move with us, so we have to pick a time close to when our funds run out.

Technically, it's just a matter of some customization and moving scripts over. A days work at most, and I'm finally off my stupid night schedule this coming Sat, so I'll have more time during the fall to look after things.

The trick is deciding on a host, and deciding which admin mod to go with (mani would be a poor choice, given that its now unsupported and two strokes away from breaking on us). Another thing to keep in mind is that a good portion of the clan is planning to move over to TF2 in the next few months. I generally recommend getting our feet wet in the game before we invest in a server, but it is still something to think about.

Bottom line, we need to open this discussion or close it. If we decide to keep this server long term (beyond the scope of our current funds) then I am good for a month's worth of funding.

I wouldn't say "move over" to TF2. I'd say "expand" to include TF2.

As for the server, I can provide the following: a fast sv_downloadurl. With bzip. As for moving stuff over to a new host, that shouldn't be hard. There are only a few folders of modified content: addons, cfg, some maps.

However, if we want to take the plunge and move away from Mani, this would be the best time. The Mani site mentions SourceMod www.sourcemod.net/. It's modular and it's designed to be resource object-oriented, which is how it should be in the first place. The functions seem to use references more than returns which is interesting.
