There was a protest outside the base gates today, so as I was trying to get back on post I got called 'murderer' a lot. I wonder when people will realize that a soldier doesn't fight for a cause or a belief. He doesn't fight because he is ordered to, nor because he believes in the war or freedom. A soldier fights for the soldier scared shitless next to him when living seems impossible, and he fights for you. Its never about anything but the guy that is next to you. I just hope the people here understand that you can hate the war, but don't hate the soldier who only is in the army because he wants a family of 200,000.

Those people that were protesting are IDIOTS. The great unwashed masses are STUPID beyond belief. IF I had the power... Better let that one go unsaid.
Anyway the media are instigating this again and I can only hope that if they keep it up they are the ones to get hurt by the actions of this dumb crowd.
The only time that the people outside of the gates will realize they need the military is when some one is shooting at them, then watch them scream for help!
Keep heart in what you are doing as it is necessary even if it is not recognized by a bunch of dummies.

It was said even better in an email to me today:
Vets are war's debris, the wreckage after. Even as we honor those who died, The amputees, the traumatized, the drifters Endure for us the wounds that saved our lives. Remember them at tax time and when voting; Allocate what amply meets their needs. No obligation is more plain or pressing, Shining like a spotlight on our dreams.

John and I are soooo far apart on many subjects but on this one we both agree - support the people that keep you FREE.
