It may be wrong but it is legal. Anything left on an answering machine is fair game.
Or as one cop put it: "This phone is the answering machine of a police officer, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. Please leave a message."

I can verify that was his kill. His camera operator was shaking so bad that he almost forgot that the beast was heart shot. Fudge had to keep talking to the poor guy to keep him from running away.
