I'll just stick to hoping they'll enhance Oblivion more with the expansions and user made mods that are still coming out for it.

Ok so STALKER isn't really a new-age Oblivion... it's kinda... hard to explain. I mean, I can go around and do whatever I really want, but to hell with going underground. Nasty little sh... things down there. And not so little either. Anyway, take Oblivion, put lots of story behind it, add guns and mutant dogs, make it playable on things other than a 7900, and make it Russian. Then you get STALKER.
And dammit I love casually walking around and stabbing random loners in the back with my knife. Take that, guitar playing fool!
And some people play guitar. Forgot to add that. And their fingers kinda completely miss the fingerboard, but its okay. It sounds cool.
I FREAKING HATE THE UNDERGROUND LAB

All of those floating boxes, and the flying flame anomaly. Ick! I have to say, I'm fairly pleased with it. I was really thrilled at first, cause I was taking it all in. But now, I've noticed a lot of the bugs and annoyances, and it is drawing me out of the immersion. The mission repeat bug is annoying. Especially when scripted events happen a second time, but critical elements are missing so it just goes in a loop. Also, the bandits/military spawns too fast. I just clear a section out and *BOOM*, there they are again. And stealth is damn near impossible. AI shoots through walls, and can track you even when you're out of line of sight. That being said, its still an awesome game. Once they patch it, it will be pretty damn good. Its not as free as Oblivion, no, and the characters aren't as interesting, but its much more immersive, scary, and enjoyable, I think. Its reminding me more of system shock 2 meets the ravenholm mission in Half-Life 2. Except less linear and more stuff to do and explore. What amazes me the most is that I can actually play it on my rig. AMD Athlon 1800+, 1GB DDR, and a NV6600GT AGP card. Cheers, -Jayne

Hmm... that reminds me of one of the next games I'm going to be playing... Bioshock... But yeah, the bugs do kinda piss me off sometimes, but damned if it isn't funny as hell to throw a nade into a cluster of neutral guys... The only thing I'm really actually annoyed with though is the transportation situation. At least in Oblivion there were horses. I want to ride a pseudohorse!

Holy crap that has got to be the biggest disappointment of an ending EVER. Seriously! Battle through 2 hours of the toughest shit in the game... for what!? Since I don't know how far any of you are (or care to be) I'm not going to ruin it for you. I just wish that it didn't SUCK HARDCORE.
and DAMMIT firefox keeps having to unexpectedly shutdown.

DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU DON"T WANT STALKER ENDING RUINED. SPOILERS AHEAD!
ha ha ha this was a most enjoyable forum to read. I will have to say STALKER was brilliant, the overall atmosphere did it for me. Im not one for dark gloomy games, but this one was stellar. I will say i didn't like the mission repeats or the fact i always had to run back and forth to collect my reward. But anyways great game, at first i feared the underground passage ways, but once i got my SPAS psh they kneeled before me. It was quite fun carrying around 4 different weapons and balancing whether it was more important to heal or to shoot. Hmm can't say i went around knifing people in the back though... poor sportsmanship chap! I knifed them in the face! (Than ran with their kidneys). I thought the end was hell of fun! A bit short lived once you get to pripyat in my opinion but still it was intense fun. And the ending yes very short but as i understand it there's something like 10 different endings depending on what you end up statistic wise at the end of the game. I ended up with "I want to be rich!" *splat* curious what other people got, because i know there's something like, I want to be alone, I want to be immortal, I want to be powerful, and several others. Not to mention I think there's a change in the end if you kill oh dear i forget his name.... Stryker? Styler? i forget.
