hey everyone! just thought i'd share my favorite toy! it's a 2006 pontiac grand prix gxp. i bought it in july 2006. i've put a little over 5k miles on it. it has all the options except the navigational dvd (didn't think i needed that, plus wanted the 9 speaker monsoon sound system). it has lots of american muscle with the ls4 5.3l v8 engine (325 in3). one of my favorite things about this car is that it has a heads up display (hud) that shows my speed, outside temperature, and direction. when i change cds or tracks or stations, it displays that, too. my first upgrade was tinting the windows, environmental protection pack (for acid rain and bird poop) and the weather deflectors for the windows. after i bought it, i put in an amp and a pair of 10" subs. my next upgrade was a cold air intake system from k&n (called an aircharger). and finally my last upgrade was a new hood. it is the inferno ram air hood with functional hood scoops and heat vents. if you would like to see more pictures, go to www.flickr.com/photos/supachim/sets/72157594498234841/in february, flowmaster is coming out with a flowmaster exhaust system for this car, and i will get that in a month or two. and eventually i will powder coat the wheels black or buy new rims completely (i haven't decided which yet).

Wow, all that is needed now is some rocket launchers for anti-traffic action.

Dude, where do you live?
...not like I want to come and steal your car or anything...
But seriously, that's awesome. I couldn't recognize what it was when I saw the hood. As Borat would say...
VERY NICE! HIGH FIVE!

thanks! *high five!* i live in kansas... and no, you cannot steal it. i won't allow it! plus it has onstar and they'll just track it =P.
i'm actually hoping to make it to acen this year. i don't believe i'll have any trips during that weekend and i will probably end up driving it up if i go. (altho i will NOT cosplay =P.) btw, how many hotel rooms do you guys normally get? i have so many freakin points with hotel rewards that i may be able to get a room with no cost to me - may even splurge for a nice room ^_^.

The only mod that I would want is a set of jump jets to get past the idiots that pull in front of me and stop.
Nice ride, what kind of mileage do you get with that machine?
Top end?
0-60?
Are you thinking of getting better rubber? X speed ratings?

heh mileage... you mean how many gallons per mile? =) haha just kidding. yeah... this thing will pass pretty much anything on the road except a gas station. on average driving (including just having the car on and sitting idle in the mornings to warm up... stupid cold weather) i've been getting about 17mpg after installing the cold air intake. before (without cold weather and not as much sitting idle), it was about the same - so hopefully it'll go up to 18 or so in the spring? *here's hopin* it supposed to get estimated 18mpg city and 28mpg highway (of course this does not include the car sitting idle or starting the car etc. so you can always expect less than stated at dealer/online. the ls4 engine has displacement on demand (dod) and can shut off cylinders when on the highway when it doesn't need all 8 cylinders.
top end... i haven't gotten a chance to go that fast yet... i hope to get it out to the drag track in topeka sometime when they open it to street cars (they do that every now and then), i've read that it's electronically capped at 135. but i dunno
0-60 is about 5-5.5 seconds after the cold air intake install. around 6 seconds before.
i don't think i'll get racing tires - i like the all purpose tires on it (handles well in the snow).
i've been talking to a powder coating company in kc and i'm pretty sure i'm going to get my rims powder coated black (should be significantly cheaper than buying new wheels) and i still like how the rims look.

Usually people just get one room and sleep all over the floor and stuff. If you are driving, I'd say to talk to Lepper, because I think he may be going too. As a word of advice, some people stay at the Hyatt, where the convention is held, and others stay at surrounding hotels because they are cheaper and quiter, so think about what you want. (Plus the Hyatt is horrible when it comes to having a billion people in your room because the A-Cen staff will come up and bust you up.....)
