O and agentx ur not the only athiest here i am one but it is good to beleive in something be it spiritual or not in most cases something good will come of it beleiveing in yourself doesnt count tho b/c that's the same thing as confidence. i dont think there is any way i could b swayed to religion and i give you my reason but dont be annoyed or exasperated by it my reason is South Park. yes south park b/c i know a lot of their stuff is hogswollow but they bring out the essence in most of the religions they critisize( and i use that term loosely) like in the mormon episode they laughed at how rediculous the founding of their faith was but then they showed the up side to the religion wich is something like being good and loving your family or something like that. then their's stuff like scientology i'm not even going to comment on it.
from now on i post a double post for each of the times i get double headshotted

This was started as a forum for politics and religion. As no one else started the religion side I waited and waited. When nothing happened I decided to ask a single question. If it gets out of hand with any form of a flame war I agree with Chu Chu (oh no he and I agree, um how can that be?) this thread should be locked and then within 24 hours put into the archive FOREVER.

Whatever religion I believe in... I certainly HOPE TO GOD its not the same as this guys:
KIEV, Ukraine - A man shouting that God would keep him safe was mauled to death by a lioness in the Kiev zoo after he crept into the animal's enclosure, a zoo official said Monday.
"The man shouted, ‘God will save me, if he exists,’ lowered himself by a rope into the enclosure, took his shoes off and went up to the lions," the official said.
"A lioness went straight for him, knocked him down and severed his carotid artery."
The incident on Sunday evening, when the zoo was packed with visitors, was the first of its kind at the attraction. Lions and tigers are kept in an "animal island" protected by thick concrete blocks.

what you must understand Amy is that 'being saved' doesnt' necessarily reflect your mortal life. nowhere in any holy book does it say god will appear and save your mortal self. God may appear (to you) and save your soul, but it's not like God is going to appear in front of you and play meat shield. If you can't tell, I know a lot about religion. I've been preached to enough, and even read the bible once or possibly twice... *starts thinking....* But then, to know something is not to believe it.

Amy that guy is dumb. I bet god was laughing at his stupidity, even though God predicted his death was going to be something like it's never what god intends cause you make your own path.
And another point to all this "Theirs no persuasion to Religion."
P.S. Is theier anyone that belives in Wiccan/ or the "Jedia religion", if not do you know of someone that does. Cause I gots a friend thats a wiccan.

Based on how define it, you could call me an athiest. I don't believe in any immortal being. However, I do not think that when you die, you just stop, I belive in a higher state of existance.
I respect any freely made thought. I like religion, it is essential for society to prosper (one of the main downfalls of soviet comunism was that worshiping anything other than the state was forbidden). I don't like people who go overboard, defying common sense and proven fact just so they can have it their way.
If you would like to talk to me privatly on the specifics then message me, my views are often found offensive and I would not like to be banned from the forums right after I rejoined

i am an atheist, but i do not hate people who do practice religion. but this whole "his opinion is his opinion" is crap, <kami3. hitler believed that the jewish community was to blame for world war one. well that's just his opinion... that doesn't work there. it's wrong. no matter what way you look at it. i am very close to christianity, i do believe it is a fairly good religion, good principles and everything. i think the main thing that makes me shudder away from it, is that most people who are christians in the US, are idiots. they do not know how to follow it properly or are just crazy freaks like pat robertson, who today said that the NY Times is anti-american because they had an article about how bush is tracking bank transactions... he is a damn fool. sorry to any devoted 700 club members. but i am afraid of you. i do not agree with the philosophy of the Buddha. and i need to read more on Muslim.
EDIT:
scientology is crap, it was invited by a guy who said "the best way to make money in this world, is to start a religion, not sell books" because he was a SCI FI author
