Got a chance to see the Black Crowes last night. Easily top 5 shows of all time. Just good 'ol Rock 'n Roll from the Robinson boys. If you have a chance see 'em def do so. I saw them at the Tweeter Ctr. in Mansfield Mass. Killer outdoor venue perfect weather and good people made the night.
I think I'm going to see the Family Value tour there with Korn and The Deftones headlining. Even though I don't like Korn the tix are only 10 bucks so I gotta make it for the Deftones.
Also my crowning achievement of the summer will be making it to the best band on the planet on Sept. 29th. TOOL!

Voodoofest is coming up. Pretty decent line-up this year, no where near as good as last year, but pretty decent.
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Duran Duran, Flaming Lips, Wu Tang Clan (Who invited them? >.<), Blue Octboer, My Chemical Romance (who?) and then a good local band called Soul Rebels. A pretty kickass form of Jazz and R&B, there good.
And others.
Plus the naked women and druggies to amuse you if the music is boring.

If they ever come near any of you, check them out even if you don't like the music, you'll walk away with an all new respect for them atleast.

I've never really been a big Tool fan, but I'm seeing a ton of people with they're new album shirts (10,000 something) and apparently they're extremely good. I just might have to go buy that 10,000 something, if it's as good as Urb says.
10,000 Days I think it is... My next CD is either going to be that or Lost and Found (Mudvayne)... Can't decide.

Mudvayne > Tool
And that's all I have to say about that.

Chu you really should be comparing Tool to Led Zepplin, Rush, and other epic bands. In comparison with Tool, Mudvayne is little more then J-Lo. We all should take music seriously again, and stop the spread of lame band syndrome. We need to organize and eliminate any posing fluff MTV video bands like lincoln park, AFI, My Chemical Romance, Fall out boy, tap root, and every rapper featured on MTV including but certainly not limited to Xzibit and Snoop Dogg. Mudvayne's makeup sure is cute though... Tool is reverred by the best musicians on the planet, and members of Led Zepplin are quoted as saying something to the affect that it is "unfair" how much talent Tool has. I leave you with this: D-a-n-n-y C-a-r-e-y

Ok, problem solved!
I'm getting both. Might as well get 2 things I like instead of 1!
My question is, what makes a band epic?
There are way too damn many pansy bands out there (like your list was going towards, Urb... AFI, Fall Out Boy, any band who's lead singer could be a 12 year old... stuff like that).
Rap is the shit. And by saying "the shit," I mean it's shit. It's the shit of shit. Kinda like country music.
The music I like... I like stuff that has a beat and is upbeat. And has to have some direction. That's why I like Lacuna Coil, Mudvayne, Slipknot, Mushroomhead, yadda yadda yadda...
OH YEAH, check out Mushroomhead's new CD, Savior Sorrow. The band went through some changes...(gained 3 members and lost 4...so 7 members total... they lost all the new ones they gained >.>), kinda weird, but definitely worth checking out, but if you don't want to buy it, download Simple Survival and Erase the Doubt. Best 2 songs on there.

Urb, I find you comparing any band of any magnitude to Led Zepplin an insult and a character flaw!
Well, maybe not that drastic, but cmon man... Stairway to Heaven...
On the other side note, I know a few proffesional Music Critics (Parent in Media), and many of them agree, "American Idiot" by sellout-Green Day was the best Rock Album in 5 years.
The music being produced today is different, but you will never have another Clapton, Zepplin, Jagger, Bono, Crosby, Hendrix, or others. Maybe some get to the caliber of them but they're called "Legends" for a reason. Never to be surpassed. At their peaks, they were arguably invincible in terms of their musical quality.
So lets not get carried away. ^_^

Grr... after listening to it, I think Tool has 2 or 3 good/decent songs. It's so damn slow! Mudvayne's is pretty good... I got GodSmack's new one too, it's pretty nice, but still some slow ones just kill me >.< Also got Rob Zombie's new one, pretty nice, some are just way out there. So I'm just sticking with my trusted Mushroomhead and Slipknot. Those guys know how to go nuts and make some sort of sense...
I like the music that moves. Just like when I play the violin. I can't play anything slow... it annoys the hell outta me.
