Get an Antec power supply (mine's a 500 watt and it was....$100? something like that) and the Asus 7900GT. You can thank me later.

k, bit of things... since i missed all of this...
ati was great in the 9000 series... but since then, especially when it comes to dual GPU, ati just fell out. i was a huge fan, but they just can't compete anymore.
the x600 should be fine, even though it is a slightly lower end version. not low end, but not the top end either. you should definitely be pulling more frames than that in cs. first thing to do i'd say, check the resolution you're running at. if its anything over 1024 x 768, that's most of your problem. plus the advanced options (things about the details, those really kill frames quick).
a 375 wat PSU in that comp doesn't sound right... that's, if anything, just enough power. they recommended running at least a 400 with the 9000 series, and i know the geforce 7000 series likes to have at least 420.
a gig of system ram is enough, that's what i run.
i'd suggest, unless you already have bought it, to try turning your graphics settings down first. that comp should be near equal to mine, if not a bit better, so i know that pulling that few of frames is definitely not right.

you could get asus too, their cool, just a tad more expensive, and a hell a lot more propriatary
antec makes psu's way too tight, i mean they get no air flow, so you need to make sure that the entire back fan can get air through easily
the x600 in no way shape or form is fine. I have a Geforce 6600 and I still get more frames than nose. the x600 needs to die, it's like running an old ISA video card

1. My computer sucks at cooling, ive had overheating issues
2. I dont wanna spend 100 bucks to get 400 watt. >.<
3. I already bought the geforce. Scwwpes, ive turned down al the details on low, and i think i might have been running the resoltuion higher, but i also turned that down by intervals and my fps didnt go up by much.
If I have any problems with the geforce, ill return it and look into the asus, but I shouldnt have problems.
Thanks for everyones help. ^_^

running hot can cause your computer to do a lot of things it shouldn't, and the vid card is one of the most sensitive things in the comp.
if you're spending 100 for a 400 wat power supply... you're shopping at the wrong place. i just got a 550 wat rosewill PSU from newegg for about 60 bucks.
tex, i half agree with you, becuase i still like ATI and all around, they make good stuff (as long as you stay away from crossfire), but i do have to say there's soemthing wrong with nose's x600... overall, the x600 should be at least as strong as my card (9800) because even though its a bit lower quality (600 vs 800), its the "x" series, and its pci-e... something's wrong with the card itself.
i've never switched from one card brand to another... i wonder how the ATI graphics drivers are going to deal with the geforce before he installs those drivers... hmm...

375 watts = eventual smoke and fire, burned mobo, hard drive(s) etc. My old power supply was not large enough and I needed to get a 500 watt unit. If you want more fps on the cheap use the plain blue desktop screen. Yeah I know it looks crummy but it will add a few fps to your system. Search the forums for the computer speed up hints thread. Those hints work wonders. Bah why search ackin.proboards36.com/index.cgi?board=tech&action=display&thread=1147054343gets you there right away. Just do it. Worthwhile.

I bought a 500 w phantom. After a BUM one from Antec, I finally have one that works. It doesn't rattle like a baby's toy...like the first one- and my computer is whisper quiet. Yes the case does get a tid bit hot on top, but the fan is on and the entire case under it is cool.

I like my old case.... Have a Valcano 7 fan on my processor, this thing is about 3/4 the thickness of a case, IT"S HUGE!! got 4 extra case fans in the back, and the power supply mounted on top with a special hole for the power cables to go through. Noisy as all hell, but that thing never got hot... When at college me and a bunch of people went outside and had a CS 1.5 scrim. we sat out in the court yard and plugged in our PC's and had a bunch of scrims. 15 teams showed up to compete. My team ended up getting 1st, but a total of 8 teams dropped out due to cooling problems, and gameplay started going down from peoples machines lagging due to heat. My PC kept playing strong with an internal temp of 68 degrees. I was sitting in direct sunlight, temp was 102. Ah, that was a good day! I loved my Computer after that!

i'm using a Thermaltake Xaser III case. 7 fans, and its still hot =/
but, i just fixed and played aroudn with some stuff, and its running better now. having a bigger room for more open air helped a lot.
it also glows red... cause... you know... it makes it go faster... just like adding more VTEC stickers to your car... or adding flames... or that really loud exhaust that doesn't do anything...
...yeah

I totally hear you, Schweppes. I put a Newegg sticker on the top of my case and I was able to overclock my AMD 2700+ to 5.7 Ghz! Also, fans > water cooling.
