do you get an error message? Does it just die? what exactly happens? no offense but "it kind've does..." doesn't help diagnose the problem. Give me a play by play for when it boots normally. Any weird errors, or anything acting funny, right up until your compy dies completely.

heh none taken, its what i get for typing half-awake. NOT lazy chu anways, What happends is on boot. i get to a menu that asks me how i would like to boot my computer on. i have 3 diffrent safe modes, 1 last known good config. and normal boot. i do safe mode it works fine. i do 'last known', or normal boot it crashes. the screen turns black, the computer stays on, just doesnt go anywhere past the windows loading screen.

You didn't have any troubles the last time your computer worked fine? And the only change is that you moved your compy?

How far did you move it? Like, via car ride? or across the room? It is possible for your Heat sync to be knocked loose in a vehicle ride, I've had it happen to me. When your processor starts to overheat, it shuts the compy down. I'd give it a jiggle and see if it's firm or loose.

The absolute most sensitive thing are the video drivers. Use the safe mode with networking and download a fresh set of video drivers. Delete the old driver, install the new fresh driver and see if it boots.
*Admin note* The above is a good idea. the below is not. Please ignore B8 and his corrupted idea of how to fix a computer from this point on. *~Chu*
Writer note: Well duh! Why do you think I told him to go through the mindless combinations until his mind explodes! To keep him out of that usless crap option. Kami you did get the hint that it wouldn't work or you would have PMed me about it.
If that does not cure the problem then you have to run the selective start up option from the program run command of msconfig.exe. Go through the various combinations until your mind explodes out of frustration. Or just reload windows and all of your applications. I have found this to be the best way out of a problem.
Warning your main C drive may be on the verge of failure. Back up all of your data to an external drive. Replace your C drive with a new unit and then install windows.
I hope that this is enough bad news for you and that you have not gone catatonic on me. You're still alive aren't you.
Just follow the nice man in the white coat to the nice ambulance.
I have gone through all of the above but refused the ride in the ambulance, no wait that last time in the car I accepted because it hurt so much that I could not move. Follow the above instructions but do not get into a car accident.
Give me all your money, no that is not what I meant to say. Oh just go take care of your computer. Remember to laugh, that way they will not know how much pain you are in. Never let Bill Gates know how much pain he causes.

Checked to make sure everything is seated properly? I.E. Ram, Vid card, sound card ? And checked that all fans are plugged in?

Hmmm. Well to be honest, this is my last resort but whenever I have bad probs like that. I unplug almost everything and then start without a disk drive or cd rom and only the minimal amount of RAM. Then work up from there until the problem starts again.

sounds like you plugged the CD-rom cable in backwards. You said 'drives' so I'm assuming you have two. On the same cable probably. Switch the cable plug ins on the drives.
