It is the same thing, my orignal hl1 steam accound (that my younger brother uses now) has HL2 on it. Its a 5 digit steam number and its the same forever.

hrm..... I should stop typing without watching my monitor. Anyway, Siv has been here a while and Steambans is 3rd party, I have to trust the people I know over a group that I do not know.

the problem if the clan decides to unban him is the ONLY way to do so would be to take steambans off the server. apparently steambans won't hear his case because the event occurred more than 1 year ago and there's no way for us to edit it. we would have to take off steambans for him or make him buy a new steam id.

I dunno. If y'all did that I'd be grateful, especially because this server doesn't really need steambans. Any server that has frequent admin patrol and a ban system doesn't really need steambans. Steambans is really just an excuse for lazy admins to make sure a few people who chronically hack don't play on their servers, while many others who have made some sort of mistake in the past and don't hack, and will never hack, are punished by the system. Honestly, I'd rather avoid this whole stupid debate and have bought another copy of CSS, but I don't have the money right now, and will not likely in the near future.

I disagree wholeheartely Disabling steambans would either a) make the server better by letting Siv play b) make the server worse by letting in some hacks No offense Siv, but I am 100% convinced it will be b). Admins aren't always around on the server, and even if they are, the hacks can still ruin the game for the few minutes before they are kicked. but in all seriousness, the potential for abuse (as may or may not have been exhibited in my case, it appears there's a demo proving it's not) is still immense, and the lack of forgiveness steambans offers is just plain stupid. There's no expiration for anyone banned on steambans, whether a fed-up admin banned someone for hacking once on a server or that person was banned for hacking repeatably and frequently. There's no way to tell, and there's no forgiveness in the system. I've personally thought it was stupid from day one, prior to my own situation occurring. And also, I recognize that I'm one of very few who've been freaked by the system; this doesn't happen to many people. I still think it's much like the death penalty, altogether too final. Of course, depending on your position on said capital punishment, you may or may not agree with this. Furthermore, I just swore and I don't really care, because I won't be playing on AC anymore, from the looks of things. Except, notice how I've not continued to swear, and am not doing so overtly despite my use of a four-letter-word to make a point. Also, I love how the server calls itself a "family server," and thus there's no swearing; BUT IT'S AN 'M' RATED GAME. People who are mature enough to endure the high level of violence should likewise be mature enough to handle swearwords. But that's another issue with which I disagree, and am again in the minority of rebellious opinions. Time to find another server! It's been.. somewhat charming, and from time to time extremely annoying playing with y'all. However, overall pretty decent. Why else would I have wanted to return after all this business about steambans. swearing, and raccoon being a dick who can't handle a couple innocently intended words?

I haven't seen it block anyone but siv so far, and I haven't actually seen that... I wonder if we add siv to the immune list if it would still let him join and super-ceede the steambans... hmmm... Siv, PM me sometime if you want to try that.
